Walk Run Cycle Play

Wirral and Liverpool – Every Sunday 10am – 12noon

Want to start your Sunday the right way – getting out and active in our beautiful Liverpool City Region?

Walk Run Cycle Play (WRCP) is an initiative that aims to encourage more people to participate in leisure activities that nourish both the body and mind.

It brings communities together and acts as a catalyst for positive change, all while getting people outside enjoying the fresh air and beautiful surroundings. The play element of WRCP reflects the fun that can be had exploring the outdoors, encouraging children’s (and grown ups) creativity and firing up their imaginations!

Our city region is home to a wealth of stunning promenades and we are breathing life back into them, by forming groups to meet up every Sunday and use them for outdoor exercise – walk, run, cycle or play your way along!

WRCP is FREE of charge and includes a FREE drink for every participant.

How do I get involved?

Groups meet every Sunday morning between 10am – 12noon at a host of checkpoints in Liverpool and Wirral, where our staff members will be waiting to greet you with a smile.

Get a wristband from one of them on arrival at your chosen checkpoint and you’ll be able to grab a FREE tea, coffee or soft drink from our team, with FREE bottled water also provided at checkpoints along our routes.

Once you have your wristband, you can choose your preferred activity – either walk, run or cycle one of our range of routes.

Don’t forget to share your experience of our events on social media, using our hashtag #HYPEWalkRunCyclePlay

Where are the Routes?

Our Wirral event is along the longest promenade in the UK, New Brighton to Seacombe Promenade and our Liverpool event, delivered in partnership with Canal and River Trust, is along the Riverside Walkway from the Royal Albert Dock.

As well as our main Liverpool and Wirral events, we also host other WRCP events at Central Park, Liscard, Rimrose Valley, Birkenhead Park and Springwood Park.

Will I be fit enough?

Walk Run Cycle Play is fully inclusive for all people, no matter what your level of personal fitness or their age. We have taken great care to ensure that we have routes suitable for all ability levels.

You can decide to join at one checkpoint and finish at another, or you can choose to continue along the full route – it is up to you because the objective of WRCP is to make getting active fun.

You can exercise for a length of time which is suited to you and we have amazing staff and volunteers manning our checkpoints to look after you along the way.
