Volunteer
Want to join a community that is helping people get into cycling, reducing waste and helping our city region to connect and thrive?
You could be a volunteer at HYPE Urban Bikes. Volunteers are vital to our work and play an important role in both refurbishing bikes and promoting cycling as a viable means of transport and form of exercise.
What do HUB volunteers do?
Our volunteers assist in all aspects of bike refurbishment including bike collection, documentation, data collection, cleaning, parts harvesting, partial rebuilding and housekeeping.
Volunteers also assist Fix Your Own Bike sessions, which provides access to stands, tools, and experienced mechanics, enabling members of the public to develop bike maintenance skills.
Finally, our volunteers also provide excellent service to community-based projects including HUB Pop Up and Dr Bike events, where our mobile workshops conduct bike repairs, and Play on Pedals, which teaches infants to ride bikes.
Why Volunteer?
All HUB volunteers receive training for all the above roles, so you’ll develop your own skills.
Within a short period of time our volunteers can expect to be confident in stripping bikes, basic bike mechanic skills, and working within a busy workshop environment.
Volunteers for our community-based projects will develop group work skills, community engagement knowledge, and improve their cycling and mechanic skills along the way.
